3 movies in a day

One crazy saturday afternoon, my bf and I had a movie marathon day. We watched "The batman". It was a good movie, according to my bf , it considered an AWESOME movie. The other 2 movies are featuring from the Japanese Film Festival. "Dora-Heita" and "Memories of Matsuko".

"Dora-heita" is directed by Kon Ichikawa from a script by Kon Ichikawa, Masaki Kobayashi, Keisuke Kinoshita, and Akira Kurosawa! Kohji Yakusho is the actor for Dora-Heita. He has long been known as a costume play actor, but this is first costume play film set in the Edo period, where he plays a role of a strong samurai named Mochizuki Koheita. I did some researched on him, now I understand why he looks familiar. He acted in some of the movies i have seen -"Babel", "Retribution", "Memoirs of Geisha", "Tampopo".

The movie is is based on the short story by Shugoro Yamamoto, called, "Machi Bugyou Nikki". Samurai Koheita Mochizuki, who goes by the nickname Dora-Heita, meaning "alley cat" or "playboy," pretends to be an alcoholic magistrate but is in actuality an envoy from the daimyo sent to clean up the corrupt and lawless town. His task is complicated by the unexpected arrival of his mistress Kosei.

It was a funny black and white movie, but I have fallen asleep for the first part of 20 mins movie. It's kinda slow pace movie for me, the actor plays very well on this role.

2nd movie is "Memories of Matsuko". This Japanese film is pubblish in 2006 written and directed by Tetsuya Nakashima. It is base on a Japanese novel by Muneki Yamada. The movie is about a girl name Matusko dreams of being married to a loved one. Her life is like a roller coasters, one moment you think she has found her loved one, yet turns out to be a disaster one. One relationship ends, life moves on and she met a new man, thought this man would give her a happy life and it ends up the the same as before or worst.

I love this movie, it is musical to the ears, fairy tale and fantasy-like to the eyes and the story is a tragedy one which tears ur heart and make you weep. Definitely worth watching it! The OST is great!
